In Remembrance: Stanley C. Eisenstat Died on December 17 2020

Professor Stanley Eisenstat, who taught computer science at Yale for nearly 50 years, passed away on December 17, 2020, after a brief illness. He was 76. He joined the Yale faculty in 1971, and focused his research on numerical linear and nonlinear algebra, direct and iterative methods for solving sparse linear systems, and parallel computing. He was an associate editor of the Journal of the ACM and on the editorial board of the SIAM Journal on Matrix Analysis and Applications.
